Chaz Hearne is a multi-instrumentalist songwriter based out of Rochester, New York. Never one for taking half measures, his songwriting ranges from intricate acoustic numbers to over the top rock anthems. His folkier side leans on warm acoustic textures, evocative lyrics, and melodies that unfold with patience and intention.

That sense of restraint doesn’t last forever. As front man for the indie rock group Chaz & The Dazzlers with Reilly Taylor-Cook (bass) Cam Hebda (drums) and Nick Lord (saxophone, mandolin, & acoustic guitar) he taps into a louder instinct, trading subtlety for momentum without losing emotional clarity.

Getting his start in Chicago, Chaz released three albums The Legend of Core Dynamo (2015), The One Year EP (2016), and Rise of the Voluminous (2017) before moving to Rochester in 2018. He then joined local songwriter Susanna Rose to form the Susanna Rose trio with John Delmonico on cello. Chaz invited these two along with Willa Finck, Katie Knudsvig, Hannah Weidner, Emily Diapola plus current Dazzlers Nick and Reilly to record Intelligence Is Rising in 2019.  In early 2020 Chaz & The Dazzlers released the single Canopus, inspired by the comic book of the same name by Dave Chisholm. Having two kids coupled with a global pandemic saw Chaz take a long break before releasing Upside Down in 2025.

"At times Rochester singer-songwriter Chaz Hearne’s paper-thin, pitch-perfect tenor is akin to Paul Simon, and at others, it’s more like Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear."
